Hi,

I work for an orthopedic group and my physician is coding for R trigger thumb and L trigger finger. So he is using the codes 26055 and 26055 twice. My question is do a modifier 50 should be added on just on code or can he use the codes twice.

Thanks for your responses....

Since different fingers are involved, use the CPT code once for each finger, and append the appropriate modifier indicating which finger - F1, FA, etc. Right and left indicate laterality but are not correct when coding finger surgeries as each finger has a specific modifier.

What about A1 pulley release and A3 pulley release same finger and excision of ulnar slip flexor?
