We recently hired a neuropsychologist who does extensive psychological testing with children with different learning issues. She has started doing some School observations to learn what is happening in their environment. Does anyone know how to bill for this kind of instance? She is also having a professional conference with the teachers and other doctors that work with the child.

For the school observation can it be billed as an intereactive session? 90812

And for the professional Conference can that be billed as a 99366 or 99368

Please help if anyone knows any information.

Interactive codes are used when there is a language or communication barrier between the child and the provider, so there may be a need for play therapy or perhaps an interpreter. Observation in the classroom would not qualify. We have used Environmental Intervention (I think 90882), but payors usually do not pay. We notify parents in advance that it's non-covered and will be self-pay.
