Please help. If the physician (MD) is out on vacation, under the scope of the practice of Nurse Practitioner, can an experience NP oversees the RN giving the Velcade (J9041) and Lupron (J9217) injections in the office?
TIA

Scope of practice for NPs is determined by your state - usually the nursing board. I see you're in TX and found this https://www.bon.texas.gov/practice_scope_of_practice_aprn.asp.html.
I personally have no knowledge or experience in this. Scope of practice questions are really legal and compliance questions not usually best answered in a coding forum. That being said, most states allow NPs to practice fairly independently and office injections seem fairly straightforward, so the answer is PROBABLY yes, but checking with your state's requirements is the only way to know for sure.
Just don't forget that the services must be billed under the NP and not the vacationing MD.
