Screening Colonoscopy

Patient is referred to the GI office for a screening colonoscopy. But he/she also send the PCP's office records stating the patient has constipation, extreme weigh lost and abdominal pain. Is the GI Obligated to treat the GI symptoms? Or just do what is requested? Thank you. Margie
 
The other symptoms or other medical conditions listed in the patient's record may very well be related, but I would be clear on the referral that was sent to you, and or authorization you obtain, it must be very specific. Hope this helps some.
