There is a new technology out called "Automated Whole Breast Ultrasound", and is used as an adjunct to screening mammography. This would be performed in women who have dense breasts or at high risk for breast cancer. It is a mammography machine with an attached ultrasound that scans the whole breast without user input.
My question is this:
For the above technology, how should we bill?
It would be my assumption that they should bill with a screening mammogram (77057) + ultrasound (76645). I would also assume that they could bill the 3D rendering code (76377).
Thoughts and guidance would be appreciated!
