If additional diagnostic views are taken following an abnormal screening mammogram. How are the ICDs coded?

77057 V76.12
------------------------------------
77055/77056-GG 793.89 or any abnormal findings

or 77055/77056 should also be billed with V76.12 ???

Any opinion on this..

Screening Mamms

You would not use a V7612 when a diagnostic is being done. If nothing is found in the diagnostic then you would code 79380 ONLY if there are no findings...........

Hello,
If additional views are taken we may not consider screening mammogram. We will have to go for diagnostic mammogram and V76.12 can be assigned only for screening mammogram-
Solitary cyst of breast is the most common reason for extra compression views following the usual study.

Definitely you can consider diagnostic with screening if abnormalities are found on the screening and additional diagnostic views are taken...
