Is 10061 correct? I checked the cross code for the ICD-10, and it doesn't list N60.89.

After informed consent was obtained the left upper breast skin cyst site at 12:00 was prepped with ChloraPrep. A 27-gauge needle was used to anesthetize the area with 5 cc of 1% Xylocaine with epinephrine. Once adequate anesthesia was obtained. And 11 blade was used to open the cyst with an immediate return of moderate amount of cheesy cyst contents consistent with sebaceous cyst. The area was mechanically debrided and copiously flushed. The sebaceous cyst sac was not able to be identified. Wound was then packed with iodoform and dry sterile dressing. Patient tolerated the procedure well.

Thanks...

It sounds like 10060 might be more appropriate. If we are going by Medicare guidelines, then 10061 would only be appropriate if there were multiple incision made to drain the cyst.

The documentation should show that both incision and drainage of an abscess were performed and that multiple incisions were made. Medicare considers the abscess "complicated" if multiple incisions were made.
