I am struggling with correct cpt code. I have come up with 17999. As i don't feel it meets the criteria for an extensive or complicated wound closure cpt code 13160. And since it was a layered closure i can't use cpt code 12020.

The wound dehiscence is in the mid incision. Even though the surgery is a month out, I was able to manually reopen the wound. There was no evidence of any infectious process. I could not demonstrate any communication into the hip joint itself. This is just in the subcutaneous tissue. There is evidence of previous hematoma. Serosanguineous fluid was evacuated.

We then used Pulsavac with 3 liters of normal saline throughout the wound, mechanically debrided the skin edges, closed the adipose tissues in layers with 0 Monocryl, and then closed the skin with simple 0 Prolene sutures. Soft dressing was applied.
