JOB SUMMARY: Emergency Dept and Inpatient Facility - Full-Time Remote Medical Coder
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Demonstrates solid competency in all duties and responsibilities as follows:
ER CODER: Review and have knowledge on how to correctly assign CPT and ICD-10-CM codes pertaining to Emergency Department Facility Coding including E&M, infusion and injections. Must possess moderate knowledge of level 1 & 2 modifiers
IP CODER: Review and have knowledge on how to correctly assign ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes pertaining to Inpatient Facility Coding. Must possess moderate knowledge of DRG assignment
BOTH:
? Ability to understand and follow compliance issues of simple complexity
? Must possess moderate knowledge of CCI edits and LCD's and be able to accurately apply regulation knowledge to coding situations
? Assist with coding and error resolution
? May function as a trainer
? May function as a primary coder
? Able to work intermediate complexity billing edits
? Must be able to effectively present information in a one-on-one or small group format to peers
? Maintain the company accuracy rate of 95% weekly
? Meet set daily quota
? Maintain strictest confidentiality
? Perform related work as required
QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. ? Demonstrate a good working knowledge of medical terminology, human anatomy, and coding
? Must possess knowledge of third party reimbursement regulations and billing practices
? Ability to examine documents for accuracy and completeness
? Detail oriented with the ability to identify and resolve problems
? Ability to communicate clearly and work effectively with co-workers
? Ability to work as a team member in all activities
? Conduct self in an ethical, honest, and professional manner
? Demonstrate continued willingness to learn and grow
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
? High school diploma or general education degree (GED);
? CCS, RHIT, CIC, COC, CPC or equivalent certification;
? A minimum of one year coding experience.
? Must be able to work Full-Time Monday-Friday for 40 hours a week, with optional weekend overtime
