What formula are other practices using to create a Self-Pay Fee Schedule? Some of my research shows Medicare x 120%. Does anyone have any useful links?

Thanks,

Wendy

We have one fee schedule that we charge everyone, insurance included.

If anyone wants to pay at the visit, then we give them a "Time of Service" discount, which is also available if any insurance wants to pay that day (of course, they won't). If I have to send you a bill, you're not getting a discount.

We have a high fee schedule because we do a lot of legal work, and that leaves us more negotiating room. You absolutely do NOT want to be telling a jury that you charge injured patients more than insured patients, so again, one fee schedule for all.

Our Time of Service discount is 75% off our fee schedule. That means for every $100 we charge, if you pay at the visit, it's $25 (per $100).
