Wiki Sentinel nodes received in one container

Hi, we received a sentinel lymph node specimen with 3 nodes in one container. In reading the path coding manual it seems like a grey area. If the 3 nodes are separately diagnosed on the report could they bill 88307 x3?

If all the nodes are sentinel nodes then yes you can charge for each separately diagnosed node. Just make sure that it is a sentinel node and not 3 lymph nodes that are in one container. If it is just 3 lymph nodes that are not sentinel nodes then the charge would be 88307 because it would be considered a lymph node resection which covers a resection that contains 2 or more nodes.
