Hi everyone,
If you are coding "hypotension. due to sepsis." and other diagnoses are included; what would be your code selection.
The provider is placing the above diagnosis in the H&P; however, the patient was admitted from the ER department with "Hypoxia" and the first dx is Hypoxemia, due to pneumonia, Bilateral pneumonia; hypotension. Due to sepsis; Barrett's Esophagus, S/P Renal Transplant; and last "ARD".
The reason for clarification, if you are reporting data for a Quality Reporting program, then the requirements do have certain "inclusion definitions" for the Sepsis measure set.
