Does anyone know the appropriate ICD 10 code for this? I've been told the M89.371 or M89.372 would be more suitable than M25.00. Thank you.

Sesamoiditis classifies to M25.8- per the listing the in alphabetic index. That would be the only appropriate code assignment unless there is additional information in the record to support coding otherwise.

Hello dawn.smiga27@gmail.com,

Since sesamoiditis occurs when the tendons surrounding the sesamoid bones become irritated and inflamed I am thinking maybe to use DX M77.51 or DX M77.52? I have also seen DX's from the M25.8 codes used as well. I don't know why the DX code M89.371 or M89.372 would be coded as that is for hypertrophy (overgrowth) of bone.

Hope this somewhat helps~
