Seven sites were done:
Rt side of nose, icd 173.31 using 17281
upper lip, icd 173.31 using 17280
lt inside of ear, icd 173.71 using 17281
lt upper nose, icd 173.31 using 17280
bridge of nose, icd 692.74 using 17000
lt lowe nosem icd 706.8 using 17003
lt side of neck, icd 173.31 using 17271

in the ncci edits if i put the 17280, 17281, and 17271 in column one 17000 is not in column two, but if i put 17000 in column one 17280, 17281 and 17271 are in second column. I am so confused as to what is should do to get these paid. If paired in ncci edit and modifer allowable it should be -59, if not paired should be -51

help!!!!!:)

not sure if this helps, but 17000 and 17003 should not have anything to do with the others since 17003 is an add-on to 17000. I code removals, but usually not multiples and/or different sizes from almost the same location.

not sure of your insurance carriers, but could you bill the 17281 x 2 lesions and the 17280 x 2 lesions and use the -59 modifier were needed?

17000
17003

17271 -59
17280 x 2 -59
17281 x 2 - 59
or something similar depending on how your insurance carrier prefers?

Sorry if this rambles, this late my mind is usually scrambled!!
