Was wondering if anyone can tell me, now that Medicare has changed the length of stay allowed in a SSU, what happens when a patient is admitted to SSU day 1 (billed as 99220), followup day 2 (op follow up codes), then the patient is admitted IP on day 3, can we bill the following:
99220
99212,99213
99232, etc until discharge
AND,
If 1 physician admits to SSU, then 2 days later another Physician in the same practice admits the pt IP , Doing a full H & P of their own, and not relying on the SSU H & P , can we bill for both the SSU admit and o/p f/u, and then bill for the IP Admit?
