Can Skilled Nursing facilities bill observation visits? ex; CPT 99221?

No. 99221 - 99239 are specific to hospital and will deny with POS 31.
I'm curious though.......how would observation services be provided to a SNF pt? They are admitted into the homes......they are inpatient services

SNF codes already fall under e/m......maybe it should be a consult, in which case, I would bill from SNF e/m codes (99304 - 99310) as you would a normal SNF visit, due to the fact that a large # of payers we deal with do not accept consult codes (namely Medicare, which is coverage for many SNF pts.......so there's that!)
I'm not sure if this is helpful or not........I hope it is!*
