Need some help on this one. Looking to see if there is a code for such a thing:
OP Report:
Preoperative DX: Status post compound fracture of the left tibia and fibula
Operative Procedure: Removal of external fixator device and removal of prominent bone at the fracture site.
Description of Procedure: Under adequate anesthesia, the leg was prepped and draped in a sterile manner. External fixator ppin ends were removed and following this, the fracture was found to be very stable. The prominent anterior spicule of one wa cut back to a smooth configuration with rongeurs.
Blah, Blah, Blah...closed the wound.
So I get the exteral fixator part for CPT 20694, but what about the smoothing of that bone?
Think I can use a debriedment code at open fracture site?
