Has anyone else out there seen this? There's a new (been out for about 2 years) method some places are using to obtain samples from lung cancer patients. On the report I just read it was referred to as "SPiN Perc needle biopsy". From what I gather from the company (Veran Medical) website, it must be similar to an FNA. I even called the local rep who said she didn't know what the pathology code would be. I will use 88173 (and 88172, as our doc did an immediate adequacy assessment) this time; but would love to see what others are doing. THANKS!

Please advise, can 31626 be used/billed when the VERAN system/biopsy forceps and/or the SPIN perc protocol for localization purposes?
