One of out physicians recently did a surgery on a patient's L-spine.
The patient's diagnosis is "Previous surgery with poor positioned pedicle screw" and the procedure performed is "Left-sided L5 pedicle screw removal and respositioning of the pedicle screw"
I looked to CPT 22850 - Removal of posterior non-segmental instrumentation
as he does remove the screw in order to reposition it, but it seems to me like 22850 would be for permanent removal not repostitioning?
I also looked to CPT 22840 - Posterior non-segmental instrumentation
but this is an add-on code and cannot be billed on its own.
I am at a loss of what CPT would be appropriate for the repositioning of a pedicle screw. Any input would be great!

Thanks,
