Hi,

Can someone answer a question for me?

If the patient was a surgery patient(at our Outpt Surgicenter) and transferred via ambulance to the ER because the patient developed complications with his heart will we be able to combine the bills? Keep in mind that the patients insurance is Workman Comp and secondary Blue Cross Blue Shield.

Thank you,

Lori

Only 1 E/M service is billable per day. The documentation of each visit could be combined. Making certain that the physician sees the patient in both venues, use the code of the place he dictated. If he dictates an initial visit using info from the office service, bill the initial.

Hope that helps.
