Hello,

Can anyone tell me how I code Diagnosis: Stable Knee Arthroplasty.

I have a person who had knee arthroplasty (in 90 day global period). I have an xray that needs paid, I know that x-rays are not included in global period, so How do I code this diagnosis and get the xray paid.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

If the x-ray was done to evaluate the implant after surgery as part of routine post-operative care, which is what this sounds like, then I would code Z47.1 - Aftercare following joint replacement surgery as your primary code and add an additional code Z96.65- to report the presence of the artificial knee joint.
 
I agree with True Blue. I always bill Z96.65__ with secondary Z47.1 to show protocol for the x-ray.
