Our providers want to give the state shots to patient who have insurance but do not have immunization coverage and bill the shot as 0.00 and charge for the administration. I was just wondering if the state shots are just for medicaid patients or you can give the shots to patients with insurance and bill it out as no charge.

The shots are for anyone. The provider can only bill for the admin. fee. 90470(private payers) and G9141 (Medicare) since they are given the vaccines at no charge. You can bill ins. or even the patient for the admin. fee. If you do bill the vaccine 90663 / G9142 you should have 0 charge for these codes. Hope this helps.
