How would you code removal of a stent from the thoracic aorta (it separated from the sheath during placement)? I can't find an appropriate FB code. Is there another way to code this? (portions of dictated note below)
The ductal stent was dislodged from the sheath and was retained in the descending thoracic aorta without an easy way to retrieve it...
posterolateral muscle-sparing thoracotomy was employed to gain access to the thoracic cavity through the 3rd interspace.... PDA was then divided... aorta was clamped proximally and distally. Once the aorta was clamped, a partial aortotomy was created and the stent was removed from the descending thoracic aorta.
