In our facility we utilize cpt 62311 (lumbar) for subarachnoid injections. Does anyone else bill this service and utilize another code or modifier? My reason for this question is that when these injections are done the patient is here all day long unlike a regular lumbar epidural injection. Some patients even have a ketamine drip. Since this service requires more time, monitoring etc you would think that a different code (mod) could be used and reimbursement would be different. Any suggestions?

Thanks
