Hello,

Our providers are doing Subcostal TAP Blocks and have been trying to use 64425. This is not an Intercostal Nerve Block, so I do not feel 64425 is appropriate. The procedure description is reading like a TAP Block 64486. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I would be curious to know what anesthesia base value Is assigned to 64488, a bilateral TAP block and also if the ultrasound is included or can be separately billed.

TAP blocks are generally administered for post-op pain management and do not have an anesthesia base value. Per the 2021 Relative Value Guide, imaging guidance is included for all TAP blocks. Therefore, U/S may not be billed separately.
