Can the 99231 thru 99233 be billed on the same day by Doctors of different specialties? I would assume (hate to use that word in coding) the ICD on claims would need to correlate to the docs speciality? For example an internal med doc vs a Respiratory doc....

Thanks
Chrissy

Different specialties

Yes, physicians of different specialties may each be coding 99231-99233 for the same patient on the same date of service. Use the Dx that is appropriate for each visit.
