Hi,
We are looking for any suggestions for software that could be used by GI physicians when they make rounds at the Hospital- this would allow them to document their visits , etc and then somehow be transferred to the billing dept so that we could bill accordingly. Our current software doesn't provide any type of add on or tool that they could use. They currently are providing paper documents to the office for billing which isn't working too well. Thanks in advance.

Our facility recently started using Ingenious Med to enable our providers to capture their hospital billing electronically using their Iphones/Ipads/Computers. It's definitely been a process with both pros and cons, to be expected with any big change. There are other companies out there with similar technology. I would recommend researching to find what suits your needs best.

The problem is that the inpatient documentation must stay in the patients chart (presumably some EHR at this point) while the billing is separate. So even if they could document their visit in your software, they would still have to document their visit in the patient record. Cerner and I believe EPICC have add ons that allow the provider to submit bills within the note, but that doesn't help you unless the GI docs work for the hospital. We use IM Bills as mentioned above. The provider enters the bill and the associated ICD-10 codes into IM bills then it spits out the bill for the billing department. It takes a fair amount of education up front.

Software for billing hospital visits

I work for a billing service. We have clients in several states. When our Providers close out their charts from their office, the record is immediately available to myself or any other billing person working their account. We can pull up the patient billing record and the chart on a screen side by side and bill directly from there. So if your Providers have access to the internet, they can do the chart while they are with the Patient, and when they complete it, your billers will have access to the chart and the billing record immediately. Company name is NEXSYIS, phone number is 888-222-7008, rep name is Bill Allen. They have excellent customer service and their software is very user friendly.
