Wiki Surgery canceled

Patient was admitted as outpatient for surgery. The surgery was canceled due to unacceptable labs. The provider performed the evaluation. Would you bill the surgery code with modifer 52 or charge a 99211-99215 with place of service as outpatient?

If surgery was cancelled before the patient even got to the OR, then you cannot use the CPT for the originally scheduled procedure.

Use the appropriate E/M code based on documentation.
