I am very new to coding and loving it so far. Thanks for the great resources. We have several surgeries where assistance was req'd in turning the patient. That's all this person did during the surgery and was not a physician. How would this be coded?

I haven't had a surgeon to bill for this. Our NPP's typically aid in exposure, hemostasis, closure, etc. I just can't imagine a carrier paying for this type of service. Anyone else?

I agree w/ Rebecca

I agree. Surgical assist is coded for assisting with the surgery itself, not just with positioning patient.
