I am new to ASC and need help. Here is the scenario. I need to code a right inguinal hernia repair and a left indirect inguinal hernia repair, both repared with mesh.
At this point I have selected 49520 which is repair for the recurrent inguinal repair. I am shooting a blank with a code for the left indirect inguinal hernia. Thanks in advance for the feedback.
 
both sides recurrent?

yes, if both hernias are recurrent use 49520-50 w/ dx 550.93


If you look in your ICD9 book under 550 includes: direct, double, indirect, oblique and sliding
