When my doc removes sutures in the office but sx was performed by another surgeon how would I code the visit for the suture removal. Also, when he covers in the hospital setting and is seeing a pt. another surgeon operated on how would I codes those visits as well?
Appreciate all the help regarding above! Cricket

is the surgeon that actually performed the surgery within the same practice (under same tax id)? If so, then its global to the surgery and no additional payment is warranted.

However it the surgery was done by someone outside the practice, then you could use S0630 if your carrier accepts "S" codes. Most carriers will not pay for suture removal, it is considered a part of the E/M visit.

If your doc is seeing patients in the hospital on patients that someone in the same practice operated on, then its global. If not, then the appropriate E/M applies.
