As per my knowledge, Normally take down colostomy means removal of Colostomy. Similarly take down colon means removal of colon i.e colectomy. 44140

you might want to take a look at codes 44620, 44625 and 44626 for your take down codes. the term closure of enterostomy would mean closure of the stoma.

Interesting. Just asked a general surgeon what this means - he doesn't
know, and he has been operating for only 25ys!!
Goes to show that correct terminology is important.
Do educate your physicians.

In light of the different responses to your question, can
you reply with how it was used in the operative note? Also,
if something was removed, did you check for a pathology report,
which should tell you what was removed. Have a good day.

The doctor performed a Laparoscopic Appendectomy. In her operative report she mentioned the ileocecal valve was seen and even retrocecally, the appendix was unable to be found. Therefore, she did a blunt dissection, the line of colon was takedown. I believe there is not a code for this, but I wanted to get another opinion.
