We bill a lot of tarsal tunnel injections and we have been using CPT code 28899 (unlisted procedure code). I always send in the documentation to prove medical necessity but I still get denials due to the unlisted procedure code. Does anyone else bill tarsal tunnel injections and have any advice as to a different code or a process that works for you. Thanks!
 
Some of the MACs have updated their LCDs to include this blurb:
"...Tarsal Tunnel Syndrome therapy should be billed with CPT code 64450..."

Maybe your payer expects the same?
