Our ultrasonographer reports presence of gallstones and kidney stones at times on OB patients. Because our MD (OB/GYN) reviews the film, can we charge for this? Is it always necessary to refer pt to radiology? The pt complains of pain, so the findings are not incidental.

I'm no expert on this, so others with more experience may disagree, but I feel these are incidental findings and are not billable.
