If you are conducting a telehealth visit when the connection becomes poor and the visit is finished up as telephonic (audio only), what are the time requirements where I can still bill it out as telehealth?
I saw guidance (but cannot find it now) that if the MAJORITY of the visit was via video, and then connection failed, that telehealth would be appropriate.
So, if it was a 20 minute visit and 12 were video, followed by 8 audio only, that would be E/M telehealth.
If it was a 20 minute visit with 8 video, 12 audio, I would code that as telephone.
Assuming you are coding by CMS guidelines. There are some private carriers that will permit audio only to be billed E/M telehealth.
