When billing 99441-99443 can you include CMAs time on the phone with the patient if you are billing using E/M time?
 
Hi there, just to clarify those are time-based codes so you will always bill based on time. Having said that, you can't include time spent by clinical staff who can't bill for E/M services. From CPT Assistant 3/2008.

Communications with the office staff, whether they do or do not end in an office visit, are not reported by these codes.
