Hello everyone,

I'm trying to get a better understanding on telehealth visits since there's been continuous updates.

What are the documentation requirements? Does physical exam needs to be documented?

When is it appropriate to use 99201-99215 for telehealth visits?

If the visit was done by audio only what are the correct CPT codes to use?

Hi! This is a big topic and it would be difficult to provide a snap shot of the various changes in this format. Luckily, CMS has slowed down on their changes and it has been several weeks since a significant change has come through for most providers.

AAPC has provided several webinars and articles in the knowledge center to help coders get a better grasp. The type of provider you are will also make a difference on what codes are appropriate to bill (physician, FQHC, etc). There are multiple links on the CMS website that will help you navigate some of these questions.

Another idea would be to reach out to your local chapter and they can work with you to help you locate all of the resources for your area. Many chapters are providing virtual meetings discussing these topics as well.
