Hello, question about therapeutic procedures.

can cpt codes 97110 and 97530 be used together? And what is the sole difference between the two? I am aware that code 97530 is one on one contact with the physician but what about 97110? Please help!!!

Code 97110- Therapeutic procedure, 1 or more areas, each 15 minutes; therapeutic exercises to develop strength and endurance, range of motion and flexibility.
97530 is one on one. 97110 can be used if the patient is doing stretches or exercises under supervision. Both are timed codes. As long as your documentation supports the codes, you can get reimbursed if they are payable by the carrier. I would check to make sure.

97110 can be used for stretching, theraband or cardiovascular traction. These do not have to be done by the doctor.
However, 97530 must be done by the doctor and can be used for pronex, thumper, activator techniques or drop table.
