Wiki Thoughts on how I can train front end staff to remember who referred the patient for services?

We are an FQHC so a lot of our patients are self referral. How can I train the front end staff on how to identify when the patient was truly referred to us by another provider vs. just putting in whomever they please as the referring provider?

Hello Meghan, how do you guys obtain referrals from providers? Do you have a referral coordinator? Maybe have a referral form that is completed by the person taking the information and then that can be a reference when adding it to the chart. Typically when providers refer patients they will send something over.
