Hello everyone,

I have a case where the patient was diagnosed with Nstemi. Pt had heart catherization found to have a thrombus in Right Coronary Artery. The physician used Penumbra cat RX kit to do multiple runs of thrombectomy to remove the thrombus. Then did angioplasty and stenting in the same artery. I did some research to find the thrombectomy catheter used was for aspiration. Since the patient didn't has acute MI I am unsure what CPT codes tp use for the thrombectomy. Any suggetions?
 
Suction thrombectomy is not billable for cardiac interventions, only mechanical thrombectomy (AngioJet) can be billed. All you have is the stent placement in the coronary artery.
