I work in an endocrinology office. My provider has an ultrasound machine that she uses for thyroid ultrasounds and also as guidance when doing needle biopsies of the thyroid.

We have been billing 76942 and 10022.

Today, my provider tells me she did not do a regular biopsy but rather a "fine needle aspiration cytology". How would you code this? I am not finding a cytology code, so any help you can provide is appreciated.

Thanks!

10022 is the correct code for FNA. Its considered cytology. Biopsy is done with a percutaneous core needle which is under 60100
