Wiki Time based vs MDM

If the provider gives an MDM of a level 4, but documents the time as a level 3, can the coder choose which one to use? We do not have any policies in place that say which one we have to use.

Hi there - Yes that's fine. The AMA intended for the provider to pick the method that benefits them (time or MDM).

If you agree the MDM qualified for Level 4, use the level 4. You don't have to level by time - it is just an option.

Use whichever one is most beneficial to the practice. It doesn't have to be always time or always MDM. You can decide for each visit individually.
