Can an orthopedic surgeon bill for smoking / alcohol cessation counseling along with an E/M visit, since they are counseling patients for surgery regarding this and the healing process. Thanks for your help!
 
Sure, he can bill 99406 - It's probably not going to pay, because many insurers don't consider it a covered benefit, but there's no reason not to try.
