I am trying to code a tomosynthesis-guided breast biopsy with placement of a marker clip and post-biopsy mammography. I have found some literature that says tomosynthesis-guided is similar but different than stereotactic and a CIGNA policy statement that says it is experimental. I hesitate to use the stereotactic code that implies a covered service if payors' policies indicate it is experimental/non-covered. How have you been coding these? Help!
