in amb. surg coding the md rarely indicates if the knee arthroscopy, etc is for a current injury torn knee meniscus or old/degenerative. I wanted to know if you would just go with the 7xx.xx section vs. the 8xx.xx section?
 
I typically go by the rule of thumb that if the physician doesn't indicate an injury, it's not an injury. I would use the 7XX.XX range.
