One of my physicians performed a total hip revision, a total femoral arthroplasty replacement, and a total knee arthroplasty. I have the codes for the total hip revision and the total knee arthroplasty but I need help with the total femoral arthroplasty.

The patient had multiple femoral fractures and the physician took out the whole femur and replaced it with metal so there is no bone there.

Any suggestions.

Thank you.

Your hip surgery in question actually sounds like it may have only been a partial revision. 27138 for replacement or revision of the femoral component only. You should not bill for a total hip revision unless all components were replaced. Hope this helps.
