Total knee revision with removal of prosthesis

Dr. does a revision 27486, but can you charge for the removal of the prosthesis 27488 too?

Removal or prosthesis

code only 27488 removal of prosthesis, including total knee prosthesis, methylmehacrylate with or without insertion of spacer knee.

If he is doing a revision the removal of the prosthesis is included in the revision code. If he is only removing the prosthesis and planning on re-implanting at a lter date then you would only code the removal
