My docs recently performed a surgery for a pt who suffers from hperparathyroidism and also has thryoid cancer. He performed first the excision of the parathyroid, then the total thyroidectomy. I know per CCI edits these are inclusive, does anyone have any ideas of how to code for both surgeries?
 
Ok, 1st, not enough information to answer your question in total....when you say he performed the excision of the parathyroid first then the total thyroidectomy, do you mean he performed them together on the same day or separately on different dates?

If you can post the op note(s) it would help.
