Hello - I am trying to find out how other CT surgeons keep track of their global visits. Do you post a 99024 as a tracking code or is there a better way that I am not aware of? Do you keep track of them at all? This is in reference to follow up and discharges. Please let me know your thoughts.

Yes we bill a 99024 w/ a zero charge when the patients are in the 90day global period to track them .
 
I am assuming this is just for administrative purposes? These do not go out to inusrance companies do they? Our system does not allow for $0.00 charges to go out. How do your physicians keep track of the global visits? Any suggestions would be great.

We track by looking in the pt's account to see if we billed a 99024 code or with the documentation in the chart even though P/o Visit our doc's still document... The patients are scheduled for a one week follow up before they are d/c from the hospital also. Hope this helps
