In coding ICD-10-PCS codes we have to know if the transforaminal injection is going into the epidural space or the spinal canal. We have a difference of opinion in the office and in our research. In 9's it was spinal canal but there wasn't an option of epidural space. Anyone know for sure.

The intent of a transforaminal epidural injection would be to have the drug injected into the epidural space, not intrathecally. I would take the "into the spinal canal" to potentially be an intrathecal injection into the cerebral spinal fluid.
